A scant 10 miles from the heart of downtown Atlanta, the unincorporated town of Vinings stretches itself along the lazy Chattahoochee River between the affluent Buckhead area and the city of Smyrna. Providing a home to approximately 9,500 people, this small town spans a little over three square miles and has a wide selection of well-maintained and comfortable housing options available.
Originally, this town was named after Hardy Pace, who ran Paces Ferry, a service to help townsfolk shuttle their goods back and forth across the river in the early 1800s. The town was later renamed after William Vinings, a railroad construction builder who built the tracks and station in the area.
Since that time, Vinings has grown, providing a variety of shopping, entertainment, and attractions for both visitors and residents. Specifically, Vinings is also known for the Silver Comet Trail, a nearly 13 mile path that runs through several hundred acres of Heritage Park. The park also provides plenty of biking, walking, and picnic areas for residents during the warmer months of the year.
Homes range from classic 1950s beauties to modern, custom-designed abodes. From shopping at the Vinings Jubilee or taking a quiet stroll through the neighborhood, the people of Vinings enjoy both the rich pastoral landscape that the city has to offer and the close accessibility of Atlanta’s amenities.
